    Purpose

    Uniformed Services Leave (Military Leave) shall be granted to eligible employees in accordance with applicable state and federal laws, including the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act of 1994 (38 U. S. Code (U.S.C.) 4301 et seq.) (USERRA) and Kentucky Revised Statutes (KRS) 61.373 through 61.377 and KRS 61.394.  This policy shall be interpreted in accordance with such laws, including any future amendments.

    The University maintains work hours which are compatible with state law, departmental functions, and the maintenance of effective work schedules.

    Policy

    The typical work week for non-exempt full-time employees is generally either 37.5 hours per week or 40 hours per week. The typical work schedule for exempt full-time employees shall average at least 40 hours per week, and it is anticipated these employees may average more than 40 hours per week.

    Purpose

    An employee is free to engage in political activities as long as the employee is able to do so within the law while meeting the obligations of his/her position at the University. When an employee is able to demonstrate that participating in a political campaign or holding a public office will not interfere with the employee’s job responsibilities or work schedule, the employee may do so without a leave of absence.
