Purpose: The University recognizes the need for orientation periods, during which the University and the employee jointly assess the regular staff employee’s performance.

Policy: There are two types of employee orientation periods: New Regular Staff Employee Orientation and Transferred Staff Employee Orientation.

    Purpose

    There is continuous interpretation of the intent and the effect of these Administrative Regulations. Human Resources is available for interpretation of these policies. The Vice President of Human Resources is responsible for final interpretation and will decide necessity for reviews, interpretations or possible revisions of the policies.

    Policy

    All policies are subject to review and periodic revision. Reviews of policies occur as new circumstances arise, as new laws and regulations are enacted, and as employees identify and present concerns.

    8.1 Policy

    The University recognizes the need for probationary periods, wherein the University, as the employer, and the staff employee jointly assess the employee’s job performance. (For disciplinary probation, see Policy #62.0.) Two (2) types of probation periods exist as follows:
