Adjust your schedule

You may be able to set your regular schedule earlier, later or compress your work week.

Flex time on occasion

Take appointments as long as you make up your missed work time within the same week.

Reduced hours options

Reduce your hours for a season

Working less during summer and winter while keeping benefits may be an option.

Take seasonal unpaid leave

Full-week increments of leave during defined summer and winter periods may be possible.

Phase into retirement

Explore easing into retirement by reducing hours over time.

Phase back to full-time from leave

After extended leave for any reason, including childbirth, you could return part-time at first.

October 29, 2019 Susan spoke at a lunch and learn event, Flex Work at UK, on a panel of supportive supervisors. A team of more than 20 staff in the College of Medicine have one work from home day each week using their university-provided laptop.   Working from home helps with managing the stress associated with our deadline-driven work.

1. Dedicate a workspace and stay organized Establish a dedicated space for your office work. Make it ergonomically adaptable to your physical needs. Keep it clutter free and inviting. Keep household chores, such a laundry and bills, away from your work area to reduce household distractions. During your work hours, you will want to give your full attention to your employer – not your household chores!
