​CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

AquaJog - 30 minutes of swimming styles that allow you to move at your own pace. Instructor-led workout in the deep end. We have float belts, noodles, kickboards and water weights.

Barre - Use your countertop or a chair for balance to fine-tune the muscles with this class.

Band Mobility - Challenge your range of motion (ROM) to maintain or increase mobility using various resistance bands.

Body weight circuit - Moderate intensity bodyweight class. You only need your own body weight or something else heavy if you have access.

CardioBlast - a 30-minute class to get your heart rate up and move you into the cardio zone for training your aerobic metabolism.

CardioMix - a mix of step, choreography and circuit training to get you into the cardio zone.

Core - Get ready to work everything from hips to shoulders!

Deep Water - Instructor-led workout that allows you to move at your own pace. Total body resistance training including water weights. We have float belts, noodles and kickboards for you!

Dynamic recovery - Rest day does not mean do nothing! Try this class for the days after a hard workout or just to keep moving.  A full body stretch and easy strength training class. 

HIIT (High-Intensity Interval Training) - all you need is some space and a bottle of water.

Mindfulness-based yoga - This class is based on the use of the principles of mindfulness to facilitate the participant's self-awareness, concentration, physical well-being and serenity through breath and movement. Variations of yoga poses are offered so that everyone can participate.

Morning stretch - start your day with a total body stretch, lasting about 30 minutes. We’ll get all the major muscle groups and joints.

Morning yoga - Start your morning with this easy-flow class to wake up the body, mind, and energy.

Pilates - Work your entire body through concentration - exercises that will leave you feeling strong, grounded and flexible.

Power Hour - An hour-long class of cardio, conditioning, fast-paced and intense work!

NIA - Non-Impact Aerobics, connecting the mind and body through movement. Slow rhythmic cardio that is safe and fun.

20/20 - This class combines 20 minutes of cardio and 20 minutes of strength training with a variety of exercises for a total body workout.

Triple Threat - a high-intensity class of cardio, strength and core!  Get in and get fit fast with this fast-paced class. All fitness levels are welcome for this high-intensity class.

Yoga A - Move gently through a sequence of 31 postures with an emphasis on relaxation, flexibility, muscular strength, balance and coordination.

Yoga B - Move through 31 postures for strength, flexibility, and relaxation. Builds on Yoga A.

Zumba - a dance-based class to fun music…burn calories without even realizing it. Learn fun dances to fun music!


All of these classes are “all fitness levels welcome.”

Annual period for employees to convert temporary disability leave to vacation leave now available through April 30

The annual period for University of Kentucky employees to convert their temporary disability leave (TDL) to additional vacation leave (VL) is now available through April 30.   Employees may request conversion of TDL hours to additional vacation leave through Employee Self Service in myUK. Employees should log into myUK, access Employee Self Service and select Working Time and Leave Requests.

Hi! I'm Carrie Davidson, an Exercise Specialist and Fitness Facilities Manager with UK Health and Wellness. I've worked at UK since 2006. I hold a bachelor's degree from the University of Southern Mississippi in Exercise Science, a Master's of Divinity degree from Gardner-Webb University and a doctorate in Health Promotion from the University of Kentucky. I also hold several fitness certifications (ACSM, ACE, RYT 500, and Mind Body Specialist) and I am passionate about helping others be healthy in body, mind, and soul!
