Whether you are looking for a place for your child to enjoy after school or an extracurricular activity to encourage an area of interest, you can find opportunities in our listings. Some programs also provide extra services like extended hours, availability on snow days and holidays, and camps during summer and winter breaks. Several offer discounts for UK employees. Take a look!
UK does not endorse any of these resources or special programs. We provide these listings to support families with up-to-date information to assist with their parenting needs and child care planning.
If you are a vendor, you are invited to share your resource in two ways: 1) register for the September 2 in-person resource fair or 2) register to be listed in the online directory. Parents Resources vendor registration website, please click here.
UK employees are invited to connect with these vendors at the in-person UK Parents Resource Fair on Wed., Sept. 2nd between 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Open to all UK faculty and staff and their support partners. Also, you may contact the vendors directly before and after the resources fair.
Carnegie Center for Literacy and Learning Attending fair
The Carnegie Center for Literacy & Learning is a 501(c)(3) non-profit community learning and literary arts center with local, state, and national awards for programming excellence. The Center offers seasonal classes in writing, publishing, and languages; tutoring for students grades K-12; vibrant youth and family programs and exhibits; outreach programs for children and adults; readings from established authors and local literary icons; and other programs and events designed to encourage people to explore and express their voices through imaginative learning and the literary arts.
Many classes and events at the Carnegie Center are free, and wherever low-cost registration fees are required, scholarships are available. The Carnegie Center has long been a haven for writers and readers, and we have built on that tradition to become a home to diverse groups of people who love to read, to discuss, to explore, to play, to create, and to learn. There’s something for everyone at the Carnegie Center, where learning lives.

Division of Family Resource and Youth Services Centers Attending fair

Family Resource and Youth Service Centers primary goal is to remove non-academic barriers to learning as a means to enhance student academic success.
Each center offers a unique blend of programs and services determined by the needs of the population being served, available resources, location and other local characteristics.
FRYSCs have established a record of success based on improved student performance in classwork, homework and peer relations as reported by teachers. Parents, too, report they experience greater satisfaction and involvement with the schools as a result of assistance through their local FRYSCs.
Mission Statement:
To enhance students’ ability to succeed in school by developing and sustaining partnerships that promote:
Early learning and successful transition to school;
Academic achievement and well-being; and
Graduation and transition into adult life.
FRYSC Vision:
The Kentucky Division of Family Resource and Youth Services Centers in the Cabinet for Health and Family Services shall sustain the national standard of excellence in the provision of school-based family support through continuous quality improvement.
More than 960 Family Resource and Youth Services Centers provide services to Kentucky children, youth and families in approximately 1,200 schools. Programs and services may address kindergarten readiness, successful transitions to school and adult life, parent engagement, student achievement and well-being. FRYSCs collaborate in the community to promote physical and mental health for families and students as well as opportunities for families to learn together in safe environments.

Fayette County Public Schools Student Support Department Attending fair
Our staff in Student Support Services oversee a range of areas and provide such resources as instructional discipline/behavior trainings and programs for at-risk students, mental health support services, and social-emotional learning resources and tools for staff and families. We also work with various community agencies to help maximize our services for students and their families.
Our department supports Family Resource Centers and Youth Services Centers, guidance counselors, social workers, the homeless education liaison, Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS) coaches, Extended School Services, Mental Health Services, social- emotional learning, and the Safe Schools Office.

I-RAFT Clinic Attending fair
he University of Kentucky's Individual, Relational, and Financial Therapy (I-RAFT) Clinic is a community wellness facility supporting mental health and personal finance needs in the community. Our staff consists of therapy interns and financial coaching interns.
Our therapist interns are in their Family Sciences Master's program at UK. Our interns are supervised weekly by their clinical supervisors who are licensed Marriage and Family therapists within UK's Family Sciences faculty..
Financial coaches are enrolled in UK’s Family Financial Counseling (FFC) undergraduate program. These financial coaches are under the direct supervision and instruction of Accredited Financial Counselors® within the Family Financial Counseling faculty. Financial coaching services are provided to the public community at no cost.
The I-RAFT Clinic has contributed its efforts to the community for more than 30 years. As a nonprofit, the I-RAFT Clinic's first priority is to provide a place of genuine personal growth for professionals in training and their clients.
The I-RAFT Clinic always has open doors. We are an extension of the University of Kentucky and we work with members of the Lexington community from all backgrounds.

Lexington Academy of Martial Arts (LAMA) would like to emphasize that we are a martial arts facility first… which means character development is what we do! We ARE NOT a daycare center — far from it.
We offer after-school services because they are beneficial to parents. Our program provides transportation from school, after-school martial arts classes, in addition to regularly scheduled evening classes. LAMA’s Afterschool Program is open most days that FCPS is closed, including snow and in-service days.

We are a Math learning center. We provide an initial assessment to pinpoint what your child knows and don't know. From the assessment, we will build a personalize learning plan. Our experienced instructors work 1:1 in a group setting to help the children master the concepts on their learning plan. They can also complete math homework assignments and study for test.

Newton's Attic Attending fair
Mission:
Newton's Attic is dedicated to providing students with highly unusual educational experiences and providing STEM (Science Technology, Engineering Mathematics) educational resources to parents, students and teachers. Our mission is to stimulate interest in science and engineering through exciting hands-on projects, classes and summer camps.
We offer a variety of programs to schools, families and the community including STEM day camps, engineering programs, and school outreach. We also host group events such as STEM field trips, Scout workshops, and adult-friendly STEM birthday parties.
Programs:
Day Camps: Day and week-long programs in robotics, coding, chemistry and pre-engineering in the areas of mechanical and electrical systems and aerospace for school-aged students when school is out of session throughout the year.
Engineering Programs: In-depth challenges for 8 to 80 students customized to the age, schedule, and educational needs of a select student group.
School Outreach: Programs and activities delivered to schools and community centers.
Group Events: Hosting youth groups such as Scouts or schools for partial-day events to expose them to exciting, hands-on STEM activities.
Aradyn/ Wolfe County Campus in Campton, KY: Outdoor field skills programs and family-friendly weekend, science programs.

We do not have regular retail hours. When programs are in session, day camps run 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with early-drop off and late pick-up options between 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.. Half-day options also available. Event such as Scout workshops, STEM birthday parties, and volunteer and internship opportunities can be custom scheduled.
Cost
Summer STEM Day camps cost approximately $285 per half-day week, depending on the class. Other programs vary dramatically depending on the type and duration of the activity or workshop.

Safe Kids Fayette County is a childhood injury prevention program led by Golisano Children's at UK. We are a coalition of community organizations working to eliminate preventable childhood injuries.
