CAREERS

It’s been a busy and productive summer facilitating elder care consultations and planning activities and workshops for the upcoming 2025-26 year. I invite you to join me for a season of great programing for everyone.

Beginning in August, we kick-off with an informative workshop covering updates to the Family Medical Leave and Elder Care Leave benefits. You don’t want to miss this one.

Have you heard that the UK parental and elder care leaves increased? Have you ever wondered how and when to use your FML/Family Medical Leave? Do you know the difference between TDL (sick leave) and FML? Join us for this engaging workshop that will walk you through the criteria for staff and faculty to utilize elder care, parental, and FML leave. We will cover the usage, eligibility, and approval process as well as how taking leave impacts your UK benefits.

Register for the session here.

September & October are packed with the Safe at Home Series. A common concern that comes up during elder care consultations is “my mom and/or dad are no longer safe to live at home, but they won’t even talk about another option.” This series is designed to address these concerns and help you understand resistance, be supported, create a plan, take action, and ensure your loved one is safe.

  • Barriers: “Physical vs. Emotional Hoarding: Same Movie, Different Formats”
  • Support: “Elder Caregiver Support Group”
  • Solutions: “Declutter: Where Do We Begin?”
  • Transitions: “Senior Living: Does One Size Fit All?”
  • Safety: “Successful Medication Management – Know Your UK Rx Coalition”

At the end of October, the Virtual Dementia Tour returns for one day to offer an in-person activity designed to provide caregivers with a unique immersive experience as they step into the shoes of a person living with dementia. If you have not experienced a VDT, this is your opportunity. Time slots are limited, and registration is required. Check the Work-Life Well-Being calendar for more information in September.

There is something for everyone in November. Caregiving In Its Many Forms is a three-part series including self-care fun with Caregiver Self-Care Bingo, valuing family through storytelling Stories of Care: Sharing Hope, Wisdom, and Connection and we wrap up the series with an in-person activity build a bouquet: Gratitude in bloom for your well-being.

The month of December is filled with traditions and memories. Whether you’ve lost a loved one years ago, just recently, or are caregiving for someone who is losing themselves to dementia, grief is difficult. At this time of year grief can rob you of the joy shared during the holidays. Learn how reclaim your joy with our workshops I didn’t sign up for this; and when grief takes over the holidays.
