Introduction [Jackie Carroll]: [00:00:00] You're listening to Becoming Wildly Resilient, brought to you by University of Kentucky Human Resources, Health and Wellness. Join us as we explore tools, practices, meditations, and conversations with members of the UK community. Together, we will discover how we can thrive at work, home, and beyond.

[Jackie Carroll]: Let's practice the loving kindness meditation together. So, wherever you are, sit back, close your eyes, and settle into your breath. If you'd like to offer yourself a kind gesture, like hands on the heart, or on the navel. Try that. [00:01:00] Whatever you need to feel more comfortable, more safe, and more at peace.

And bring to your mind, you, all of you. All the parts, the seemingly good, bad, and ugly parts. And, without judgment, say to yourself, may I be happy; may I be healthy and safe; may I be at peace. Take a nice deep breath in. We'll do that another time. May I be happy; may I be healthy and safe; [00:02:00] may I be at peace.

And as you feel your next breath, bring to your mind someone who you have no connection to - could be somebody who you just walked by in the hallway, or in the parking lot, or at the grocery store. And say to them, may you be happy; may you be healthy and safe; may you be at peace. May you be happy; may you be healthy and safe; may you be at peace. [00:03:00]

Then bring to your mind someone who you love. This person brings a smile to your face the moment they pop into your mind. And say to them, may you be happy; may you be healthy and safe; may you be at peace. May you be happy; may you be healthy and safe; may you be at peace.

On your next breath, bring to your mind someone who you're having a little bit of difficulty with right now. Not the most traumatic [00:04:00] event or situation, but something that's just gotten you tangled up. Whether it's at home, or at work, or with friends.

And as you feel your next breath, maybe placing your hands back on your heart, and say to that person, may you be happy; may you be healthy and safe; may you be at peace. May you be happy; may you be healthy and safe; may you be at peace.

One more time. [00:05:00] May you be happy; may you be healthy and safe; may you be at peace.

And then, let's collectively, all of us, and say to ourselves: may we be happy; may we be healthy and safe; may we be at peace. May we be happy; may we be healthy and safe; may we be at peace.

Just stay with your breath for just a few more [00:06:00] seconds.

And then take a nice deep breath in, with an audible exhale that feels gentle and kind towards yourself, towards people you have no connection to, people who you love, people who tangle you up, and people who you don't even know; but we're all connected.

And when you're ready, let your eyes gently blink open and pause.

Thank you for practicing today. I wish you a wonderful rest of your day and month, and I will see you back next month. Take good care.
