How to update a staff member's position description (MJRs)
This outlines the process to revise an employee's position description. The Major Job Responsibilities (MJRs) may be adjusted slightly, but should not result in a title or grade change.
MJRs can only be updated if a performance evaluation is still in the employee self-evaluation step. If a manager needs to update MJRs, they can copy all the information from the PE into a Word document and send the PE back to the employee.
It may take a few days for the updated MJRs to integrate into the Success Factors performance evaluation form.
- Review the Position Description & Submit it to the Budget Officer.
In IES, the Supervisor, Position Coordinator or Budget Officer will complete an Update, No Post action and make any necessary modifications to the MJRs. In the Budget Justification field, please list that this is a “Request to update MJRs for accuracy on Performance Evaluation.” If this is completed by the Supervisor or a Position Coordinator, they will submit to the Budget Officer role in IES. - Budget Office Review
The Budget Officer will review the position description and submit it to HR Compensation. - Compensation Review
The HR Compensation team will review and approve the changes to the position description. - Employee Notification
You will receive an auto-generated email stating the revision to the position description has been approved. Please be sure to provide the employee with a copy of the updated position description.
