QPR suicide prevention training
Join UK HR mental health therapists Ann Bassoni and Kim Releford for this virtual training and learn the three simple, life‑saving steps of QPR: Question, Persuade and Refer.
Suicide prevention is everyone’s responsibility—we all play a role in looking out for one another. Just as fitness instructors and physicians must learn CPR, it’s valuable for everyone to learn QPR. Anyone can benefit from knowing how to respond when someone may be at risk.
QPR training teaches you how to recognize the warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to connect someone in danger with the support they need. You may be surprised by how useful these skills become—whether for a student, friend, colleague, family member or neighbor.
In just 1.5 hours, you’ll learn to recognize suicide warning signs and apply three practical steps that could help save a life. Led by a certified QPR instructor, the training includes:
- Common myths and facts about suicide
- Methods for persuading someone to seek help
- Tips for asking the suicide question directly and compassionately
- Warning signs to watch for
- Ways to refer someone at risk to local resources
The session also includes dedicated time for your questions. Each participant will receive a QPR booklet and a resource card with suicide prevention information, treatment options, and local support groups.
This will be delivered via Zoom.
