Working parent workshop on play & work: Incorporating job awareness into play for children with disabilities
Children learn through play and play is a young child's work. One way to prepare our young children with disabilities for a future filled with employment they enjoy is to set expectations early. In Kentucky, 1 in 3 adults lives with a disability. Yet, far fewer adults with disabilities are employed than those without disabilities. This presentation will focus on ways to incorporate job awareness into plays spaces, and developmentally appropriate practices which set up children for success as they enter school and the future workforce.
