Decimal time entry
Entering exact working time as decimals
Some UK employees enter time in a system that records hours in decimal format rather than hours and minutes. If you have worked a partial hour and are not able to flex your time to work exactly a round number of hours for your shift, use the reference table below to convert the minutes portion of your time to its decimal equivalent, then add that decimal to the number of whole hours worked.
For example, 7 hours and 30 minutes is entered as 7.50 hours, while 7 hours and 35 minutes is entered as 7.58 hours.
Remember: Minutes are not entered as hundredths of an hour. For example, 30 minutes is .50 of an hour, not .30.
