Research shows that self-compassion increases life satisfaction, happiness, self-confidence, body appreciation and immune function. Self-compassion decreases anxiety, depression, stress, perfectionism and shame. This presentation provides a brief overview on the science of self-compassion, followed by hands-on activities to learn, practice and bring more self-compassion into our lives. The presentation draws primarily on the works of psychologists Kristin Neff and Chris Germer, including Neff's most recent book, Fierce Self-Compassion.
