Our most popular plan with excellent value. You pay no deductibles and no co-payments for preventive care.

The HMO health plan is available to employees and retirees living in 10 Central Kentucky counties. Plan members have the UK HealthCare provider network available to them.

PPO

Low-deductible health insurance with provider options

This plan offers greater flexibility to choose providers from UK HealthCare, Anthem network or out-of-network. UK HealthCare facilities and physicians still offer excellent value with lower co-pays and co-insurance.

PPO vs HMO

PPO plan is available at the same monthly cost as HMO and offers greater flexibility to choose a doctor or health care facility. What you pay per month, called the monthly premium, is the same as the HMO plan. Members of the PPO plan pay for this extra flexibility through deductibles, co-insurance and higher co-pays for certain services.

EPO

No-deductible health insurance with provider options

This plan offers greater flexibility of health care providers similar to the PPO plan. However, there are no deductibles or co-insurance. This excellent coverage is achieved in exchange for a higher monthly premium.

Saver

High-deductible health insurance with a health savings account

This plan offers a health savings account (HSA) and the funds that accumulate never expire. Members of this plan pay for all costs out of pocket, except for preventive care, until a high deductible is met.

To help cover your costs before you meet your deductible, UK will deposit money into your HSA.

Once you meet your deductible, you’ll pay a percentage of the cost. And if you meet your out-of-pocket maximum for the year, then 100% of services are covered.

RHP

No-deductible health insurance for Kentuckians who live in outlying counties

This plan offers high-quality care for those who live outside Central Kentucky. Members who live in outlying counties can choose physicians from the Anthem network and benefit from the same coverage as the HMO plan.

That means no deductibles and no co-payments for preventative care. Members of the RHP plan incur slightly higher monthly premiums (ie. $4 more per month for employee only).

Please note

Plan members may visit any Anthem provider in the 110-county RHP network or UK HealthCare for primary care and specialist office visits and procedures performed in the office.

Surgeries and other certain specialty procedures must be performed in the plan member's designated facility network.

Indemnity

For people who live more than 120 days in rural areas or abroad

This plan offers coverage for participants traveling out of the country for extended periods and for those who live in rural areas where UK health insurance plans have no providers.

If you will be out of the service areas for our other plans more than 120 consecutive days in the plan year, you must elect the UK Indemnity plan.
