While the hiring and selection process may be similar regardless of the position type, the steps to post the position on the Integrated Employment System (IES) website are different.

Here, you'll find information on how to post each position type.

Staff positions

The hiring department must first submit a position description. Then, the request is routed through HR Compensation and Employment for approvals prior to being posted.

For campus areas, this is initiated through IES website. For UK HealthCare, this is initiated through UK HealthCare Position Review.

For additional information regarding staff  employment requirements, please review HR Policy and Procedure 10: Staff Employment, as well as HR Policy and Procedure 30: Compensation Administration.

STEPS positions

First, the hiring department submits a job posting request directly to the STEPS team.

For campus areas, this is initiated through IES or the online STEPS request form

For UK HealthCare, this is initiated through UK HealthCare Position Review.

A STEPS team member will post your job request and collaborate with you to determine the level of service needed to fill your staffing requests. This can range from a full-service selection and placement strategy to a hybrid model where both STEPS and the hiring manager will participate in identifying and selecting the new hire.

For additional information regarding the university's temporary employment requirements, please review HR Policy and Procedure 17: HR Temporary and Student Employment Services.

Faculty positions

The hiring department must first submit the job posting in IES, and then the request is routed through HR Employment and the Provost Budget Office for approvals prior to being posted.
