Elder Care presentation on VA aid and attendance and caregiver support program

VA Aid & Attendance and Caregiver Support Program

Ashley Tew, Veterans Benefits Field Representative from the Kentucky Department of Veterans Affairs, will discuss the largely unknown and often overlooked Aid & Attendance Program and Caregiver Support Program.

The Aid and Attendance Program is for veterans or their surviving spouses age 65 years and older who can no longer manage their care independently. This benefit helps cover the cost of in-home care, assisted living, memory care, or long-term nursing home care. This program is available to both pension veterans as well as those with a service-connected disability.

The Caregiver Support Program is a program for caregivers of veterans who have sustained a service-connected injury. The program provides caregiver training, counseling, a monthly stipend and health insurance from the VA.
