Discipline/behavior trainings and programs for at-risk students, mental health support services, and social-emotional learning resources and tools for staff and families. We also work with various community agencies to help maximize our services for students and their families.

Our department supports Family Resource Centers and Youth Services Centers, guidance counselors, social workers, the homeless education liaison, Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS) coaches, Extended School Services, Mental Health Services, social- emotional learning, and the Safe Schools Office.

The University of Kentucky's Individual, Relational, and Financial Therapy (I-RAFT) Clinic is a community wellness facility supporting mental health and personal finance needs in the community. Our staff consists of therapy interns and financial coaching interns.

Our therapist interns are in their Family Sciences Master's program at UK. Our interns are supervised weekly by their clinical supervisors who are licensed Marriage and Family therapists within UK's Family Sciences faculty..

Financial coaches are enrolled in UK’s Family Financial Counseling (FFC) undergraduate program. These financial coaches are under the direct supervision and instruction of Accredited Financial Counselors® within the Family Financial Counseling faculty. Financial coaching services are provided to the public community at no cost.

Newton's Attic is a STEM (Science Technology Engineering & Math) education non-profit dedicated to providing students with highly unusual educational experiences and providing STEM educational resources to parents, teachers, and students at all grade levels. Our mission is to stimulate interest in science and engineering through exciting hands-on projects, classes, and summer camps.

Our summer STEM day camps offer a mix of robotics, coding, chemistry, and pre-engineering in the areas of mechanical, electrical, and aerospace systems. Classes are small with personalized instruction , and participants learn skills including basic physics and engineering principles, the design process as well as hand and power tool use.

Parent and Guardian Empowerment (PAGE) collaborates with youth and families in Fayette County to foster empowerment and growth. Our program equips parents and guardians with the skills, tools, and confidence to effectively guide and inspire their youth. Social workers conduct individual assessments with each family to identify challenges and create a personalized service plan to prevent future behavioral and truancy issues. PAGE is committed to supporting participants in reaching their full potential while working to reduce the progression of status offenses into criminal offenses within the Juvenile Justice System. Successful program completion promotes improved family dynamics, enhanced peer relationships, and increased positive community involvement and re-engagement.

PAGE offers a range of services, including free mental health support for youth aged 12 to 21 in Fayette County. Dedicated to reducing the stigma around mental health, PAGE ensures that all services are accessible—no insurance required. To address each young person's unique needs, youth are connected with licensed clinical social workers and certified social workers who provide both individual and group therapy.

Try these tips for a successful back-to-school experience

Parenting is such a journey. One of the biggest parts of this journey is watching your child grow from one year to the next and develop their own thoughts, personalities, hopes, dreams, and worries. Back to school is one of the busiest and expensive times of the year for parents. Most parents would agree that the commercials and ads come too soon; and the list of supplies is too long. Nonetheless, we must get ready to support our child’s academic, mental and emotional needs this school year.

October is Work and Family Month

 October is National Work and Family Month and to recognize the month, University of Kentucky Human Resources Work-Life is hosting several workshops.  National Work and Family Month is an annual designation that began in 2003. It aims to highlight the importance of creating a harmonious relationship between professional responsibilities and family commitments.
