Prerequisite skills: Basic familiarity with a computer mouse and keyboard.

In this course, a computer is taken apart literally to help the attendees to understand Hardware, software, operating systems, drives, disk maintenance, and PC lingo like RAM, ROM, and CPU.

After completing this class, you should:

  • Understand the boot-up process that occurs when you turn on your computer
  • Understand definitions of and relationships between hardware, firmware, and software
  • Know how to use disk maintenance tools to check for errors and defragment your hard disk
  • Better understand disk storage measurements in bytes, kilobytes, megabytes, and gigabytes
